🚨 YOU CAN NOW MAKE CORRECTIONS TO YOUR FAFSA!

🚨 DID YOU HEAR THE NEWS? 🚨

On April 9, 2024, the US Department of Education (ED) announced that students can make corrections to their FAFSA form starting the week of April 15-19

The Department of Education has also started processing submitted FAFSAs, meaning you can finally make corrections to your financial aid application!  However, due to more FAFSA delays, financial aid award letters may be delayed, so you might see a financial award letter at the earliest in mid-to-late May.

The sooner you correct your FAFSA, the more accurate your financial aid offers will be!

Keep reading to learn how to correct your FAFSA form so financial aid offices can make accurate offers.

HOW TO MAKE CORRECTIONS

You can now make corrections/updates, such as adding schools, providing a signature, allowing for IRS data to be shared, etc. Check the status of your FAFSA by:

  • Logging into your StudentAid.gov account,

  • Then click the “My Activity” tab,

  • If you see “Action Required” on your application status, then you have corrections to make.

Most of these corrections should take a few minutes to fix, and schools will receive updated ISIRs within a few days. Visit this page for step-by-step instructions on making corrections depending on the changes you need to make. Visit our Website for Scholarships $$$

WHAT CAN YOU DO NOW?

Make all your corrections and submit ASAP!!! The sooner you make corrections, the sooner your application can be processed and sent to your college(s) to prepare an award offer for you!

Stay in touch with your college! Continue to check the enrollment deadline directory to see any updated deadlines from the college(s) you applied to. Reach out directly to your college’s financial aid office for updates or questions you might have.

WASHINGTON STATE UNDOCUMENTED STUDENTS

The WASFA (Washington Application for State Financial Aid) is running smoothly and is not impacted by the FAFSA delays.

After you complete your WASFA application:

  • Your information will be available within 24 hours to all prospective schools listed in your application.

  • The financial aid offices will use the information submitted in your WASFA to prepare a financial aid offer with the amount and types of state aid you are eligible for.

  • If you have any questions about the financial aid award process, timeline, or your SAI, please check with your school’s financial aid office. Only your school can provide you with this information.

If you need to make any changes to your application once you have submitted it, please log back into the Student WASFA Home Page and follow these steps:

  • Select the application that needs to be updated

  • Make the necessary changes

  • Save your application

  • Electronically re-sign your application. If a parent previously signed it, you will need to invite them to re-sign it.

    • You will not be able to edit your application, and your schools will not be able to see your updated application until the parent signature is complete.

Lastly, keep applying for scholarships! Many scholarships are open to undocumented students. Use our scholarship bank and begin searching!

Haven’t applied for financial aid yet? It’s not too late to apply!!!
