🎉 Congrats on finishing up the school year! 🎉
If you are a graduating senior, you did it! You graduated! This means you are ready to transition to your next educational path.
Let’s break down your next steps together!
Congratulations! You will start your new educational journey!
Here is a checklist to double-check you’re all ready to go:
Confirm your acceptance, and if attending a 4-year university you will have to pay a fee, sometimes called a deposit, by the college’s deadline. If you are unable to pay it, or you have free or reduced lunch, you can waive the fee. You can use this enrollment college directory tool to see the most up-to-date college deadlines.
Accept your financial aid award.
Schedule your advising appointment with an academic advisor, and ensure you have selected an orientation date.
If attending a 4-year university, and you are choosing to live on campus, apply for housing!
Submit your immunization records–you can get this from your doctor or school districts. You can also pull them up online using this website.
Register for your classes!
Look for and apply for student support programs (TRiO, CAMP, etc) on campus to help you with academic advising, tutoring, financial aid, and so on!
Note: If you are at a 2-year college or technical college and you plan to transfer to a 4-year university, talk to your academic advisor about which classes to take. Ask about Direct Transfer Agreements options to maximize your likelihood that your credits are transferable.
What is orientation?
Most campuses require new students to attend an orientation, either in-person or online, to help you learn about campus resources, how to register for classes, and meet other students! Some colleges may also invite you to summer transition programs to prepare you for your first quarter!
College Resources
Through your college tuition and fees, you are paying the college, including their on-campus resources–Use them!
Here are the resources most campuses offer at 4-year universities, community colleges, and technical colleges:
